The First Date
So the hottie finally agreed to go on a date with you. How did
you pull that one off? We're just kidding! Well, make sure you don't mess
things up and follow our guidelines to ensure the perfect first date.
Call Before Leaving
The last thing you want is for someone you like to see how you
really live. Calling before you leave lets them know just how long they have
to clean the place up or themselves for that matter!
Bring Something to the Door
Some people still follow this tradition and others don't. To
be honest with you, a girl shouldn't think less of you if you arrive empty
handed but we can promise you will score major points if you do show up with
something. Check out our Dating Supplies to see what the latest trend is...
One note: If you are going to a cocktail party, it is always good gesture
to show up with a bottle of wine or flowers for the host.
Use Courtesy and Thoughtfulness
That's just common sense. Along the lines of bringing something
to the door, rules have changed in dating and chivalry just isn't what it
used to be. A man who opens the door for a woman is the result of an excellent
mother. Remember, women notice your actions whether you do something or not.
If you open the door for us we remember, but if you don't it doesn't mean
the date is over...
Avoid Illusions of Intimacy
Remember this is only the first date, you don't want to drop
major bombs! People tend to divulge more than they should when the get nervous,
a common side effect of first dates. Well, Susie doesn't want to hear about
your poor, old dog that died when you were 13 and still haven't gotten over.
And John probably doesn't want to hear about how your ex used to snore in
his sleep. Get the picture?
Try Not to Stare at Others
Simply put, they may be hotter than who you are with, but you
are still on a date. Don't gawk at passerby's. This may be hard if you are
a people-watcher, but stay away from staring...
Don't Come on Too Strong
The quickest way to sink a perfectly good date is to come on
too strong. Don't start planning your future together when you've only known
eachother for a few hours...
Develop a Good Sense of Humor
Laughing is the best way to break the ice and relieve stress.
No one doubts that you are nervous, but you don't have to sit there stone
faced. Loosen up a little, laugh and relax.
